OFFICIAL GUIDELINES

LOOK BOARD GUIDELINES

• All Furniture must come from Value City Furniture – budget can not exceed $2500
• Images may come from VCF.com
• Photos may be taken inside the stores and included in the “Look Board”
• The retail value of each piece must be on the “Look Board” – entries over budget will not be considered
• Paint/wall coverings must be Valspar products – Lowe's . Include your color selections from the Valsparpaint.com in your “Look Board”
• Personal decorative items can be used not to exceed $100 in value.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

• Contestants must be at least 18 years old
• Contestants must not have received any professional training or instruction in residential interior design or have worked in the design industry
• Designs must be submitted on a "Look Board" as a .jpg file from January 18 through 5pm on February 8.
• Public voting is February 9 through midnight on February 17- utilize your social networking skills to get as many votes as possible
• Four finalists will be announced February 18 - based on voting and opinion of the judges
• Finalists must agree to be interviewed and photographed to publicize the event
• March 1 at 10:00 am the four finalists will have 8 hours to create their designs during the
  Mid Atlantic Home and Garden Show at the Virginia Beach Convention Center
• Value City will provide the furniture and Valspar/Lowe's will give each finalist a $250 allowance for paint and supplies
• Judging will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2012 and winners will be announced at 1pm on the main stage

TIME LINE

• Submission: January 18 - February 8 at 5pm.
• Voting: February 9 at 6am - February 17 at midnight.
• Four finalists announced on February 18

HELPFUL TIPS

1. To save images from ValueCity.com, use the image from a main category page. For example:
1. Click “living room”
2. In the drop down menu select “chairs”
3. Find your desired item on the main “chair” page, right click and “save as”
4. Collect all of your images onto a single page in either Word or Powerpoint
